The following is a story of Voltron I made up based on the T.V. cartoon Voltron by World Events Productions. I did not have World Events Productions' permission to do the story and therefore it does not have World Events Productions' endorsement.
Lance was the first to notice Prince Bandor stomping his way back to the castle coming back from the meadow just on the other side of the hill.
“Just as I thought,” commented Lance to Hunk. “ I guess Pidge won out on that one.”
Hunk looked to see what Lance was referring to, but all he noticed was Prince Bandor coming back and that he seemed somewhat upset. “What do you mean?” he questioned.
“Hunk are you blind? Prince Bandor left with Tammy. Then Pidge left going the same way. Now Prince Bandor is coming back by himself. What does that tell you?”
“Pidge and Tammy are discussing battle tactics?”
Lance gave Hunk a dumbfounded look. “No. Pidge is in love with Tammy. Prince Bandor is in love with Tammy. Things obviously aren’t working between Tammy and Prince Bandor so Tammy and Pidge must have hit it off.”
“No way. If Pidge was in love with Tammy, he would have told me about it.”
Lance gave Hunk a look of oh really? He didn’t say it, but he gave Hunk that look. Then he said, “Well, we’ll just see about that. They’ll be coming back. We’ll just watch for them and the answer will be obvious.”
So Lance and Hunk watched for Pidge and Tammy to come back. It was a short wait. Not long after Prince Bandor had come back, Tammy and Pidge also appeared at the top of the hill still holding hands.
“What’d I tell you?” said Lance.
“So they’re holding hands,” observed Hunk. “That doesn’t necessarily mean anything.”
Then Pidge and Tammy paused a moment when they were part way down the hill and kissed, oblivious that anyone was watching.
“And I suppose that doesn’t necessarily mean anything either,” said Lance.
Hunk’s mouth had dropped open and his eyes were open wide in surprise. “Pidge is in love!”
“Great, now that you admit it, let’s get out of here before they catch us gawking at them.”
“Are we going straight to the banquet?” asked Hunk, getting his composure back.
“They won’t start eating for a while longer, Hunk. Let’s stop in at Castle Control first. I’m sure Keith and the princess…I mean queen…Now that sounds strange. Anyway, I’m sure they’ll check on Castle Control before going to the banquet and the banquet won’t start without them.”
As long as we won’t be missing out on any food, that’s fine with me.”
Lance and Hunk left and went to Castle Control. Pidge and Tammy arrived in Castle Control shortly after them since it was also their plan to stop by there before going to the banquet.
Prince Bandor had walked passed being in the presence of the other wedding guests and walked on until he stopped in solitude out of sight along a wall on the side of the castle.
Romelle was deeply troubled when she saw the expression on her brother’s face as he had come walking down the hill and then continued on until he was out of sight again without saying a word. She suspected what was wrong, and her suspicions were further confirmed when she saw Pidge and Tammy walking down the hill hand in hand. She didn’t see them kiss. She didn’t need to. She quickly turned to Sven and simply said that she needed to talk with her brother and that she would meet him back at the banquet.
Sven saw the earnest need in Romelle’s eyes to talk with her brother alone and simply said, “OK, I vill be vaiting,” and he kissed her before they parted.
Romelle found her brother just around the corner of the castle, standing and leaning his right shoulder against the wall, his arms folded in front of him as he stared across the lake and the rest of the countryside.
“Bandor,” she called.
Bandor continued to stare across the countryside and sounded annoyed when he asked, “What do you want, Sis?”
“I want you to be happy and right now I know you’re feeling crushed.”
“I’ll never be happy now. She’s the one for me and now I know I’ll never have her.”
“Bandor,” said Romelle in a reassuring tone as she stepped closer to her brother, gently touched his shoulder, and he turned his gaze toward her at her touch. “That’s not true. Tammy’s not the one for you. There is someone else, and she’s more wonderful than you can possibly imagine right now. You and Tammy aren’t meant for each other. And if somehow you are meant for each other, things will work out. You haven’t lost the love of your life. Your feelings now are just a shadow of greater love that awaits you in your future.”
“How do you know?”
“It happens. Don’t let it pass you by. You made sure that if Tammy was the one, you weren’t going to let her pass you by. You will find someone more wonderful for you than Tammy, and she will be yours if she’s meant to be and you don’t let her pass you by.”
“Tammy is the one for me. I can’t let her pass me by. I’ve go to keep trying until she realizes how happy we will be together.”
“No, Bandor. Tammy’s heart belongs to Pidge and Pidge’s heart belongs to Tammy. They love each other. They’re meant for each other. When you find the woman for you, her heart will long only for you, and your heart will long only for her. After that, feelings may fade, but as long as you both know you will always belong to each other, the love you have for each other will never fade. That’s how you will know she’s the one. You won’t need to convince her that she’ll be happier with you than she will be with someone else. She’ll know.”
“I suppose that anyone who longs for me will be someone I’m not attracted to.”
“That may happen before you find the love of your life. You may even find yourself in the same situation Tammy is in right now. I can tell she really cares about you and a part of her probably even wanted to be in love with you, but she knew she loved Pidge. You may meet someone who loves you and all logic may tell you that she should be the one for you and that you should love her, but you’ll find that you can’t because your heart will know she’s not the one. And that will hurt. It will hurt her and it will hurt you. But it would be worse if you tried to make it work together because you wouldn’t be meant for each other. Tammy is hurting because she knows you’re hurt. But fortunately for her, she’s got the comfort of the love of her life right now. I guess what I’m asking, Bandor, is that you allow your heart to let go of Tammy and be happy for her and Pidge. It will spare you both pain, especially if you have hope and look forward to the love of your life that you have yet to meet.”
Prince Bandor continued to think for a moment about what his sister had said. “You’re right. I love Tammy and I should be happy for her. And yet I’ve hurt her.” He bowed his head, feeling ashamed of how he had recently treated her.
“Bandor, whatever you said to hurt her, they’re just words. She knows you’re hurt and I’m sure she forgives you. You’ll more than make it up to her by showing that you’re happy for her. She’d feel good to see you happy.”
Bandor raised his head. “Thanks for the advice, Sis. I do feel better.”
That’s good, because we really ought to be getting ourselves to the wedding banquet before it starts. Are you coming?”
“Sure, let’s go.”
Romelle and Bandor returned inside the castle together and joined Sven in the banquet room at the wedding table. Keith and Allura and the rest of the wedding party soon joined them.
It pained Bandor to see Tammy’s look of discomfort at the sight of him. It was then that he realized that his anguish over Tammy wasn’t over yet.
Commentary: I took out the sentence (He trusted she would be safe and conceded to let her go by saying, “OK, I vill be vaiting.”) because it made Sven seem overprotective of Romelle. I liked all that I had Romelle say about love, but I don’t agree that it’s all necessarily always true. Time will tell if it’s true for Prince Bandor.
