The following is a story of Voltron I made up based on the T.V. cartoon Voltron by World Events Productions. I did not have World Events Productions' permission to do the story and therefore it does not have World Events Productions' endorsement.
Prince Bandor immediately had an attraction to Tammy from the moment he met her while she and the others (except Keith) were still in their space uniforms. But his sister’s wedding was that day, and he knew he wouldn’t have much time to get to know Tammy. What little he knew of her and how she joined the Voltron force, he liked. Prince Bandor didn’t know it, but Pidge saw right away that Prince Bandor was attracted to Tammy which made Pidge feel strangely uncomfortable, full of anxiety, and almost angry with Prince Bandor. Before the wedding, Prince Bandor chatted a little with Tammy whenever he had the chance, and they got along well.
“What’s wrong, little buddy?” asked Hunk putting his hand on Pidge’s shoulder. It was not long after they had arrived on Planet Pollux and Pidge had been watching Prince Bandor talk with Tammy just in front of him.
“Yahhh!” exclaimed Pidge startled by Hunk’s touch. Keith turned, noticed Pidge’s troubled look, and soon suspected the problem to be that Pidge was attracted to Tammy.
“Oh nothing’s wrong,” Pidge answered Hunk.
“You’re sure jumpy,” added Hunk.
“Nothing’s wrong,” repeated Pidge starting to sound agitated. Then Hunk didn’t say anymore.
After the wedding, Prince Bandor stole Tammy away to go for a walk with her outside the castle. Pidge stood just outside the castle, sulking as he looked off in the direction where he last saw Prince Bandor and Tammy. Then Keith came outside and approached Pidge.
“Pidge,” said Keith from behind him.
“Whah!” exclaimed Pidge startled and he turned and faced Keith. “Oh, hi Keith. What do you want?”
“It’s not so much what I want as it is what do you want?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean she doesn’t remind you of your kid sister anymore. Does she?”
“You mean Tammy,” said Pidge lowering his head.
“Pidge, I wouldn’t be bothering you with this, but if you love her, let her know how you feel. You won’t forgive yourself if you lose her to Prince Bandor without knowing how she feels about you.”
Pidge raised his head and looked at Keith. “Keith, if you’re trying to compare my situation to the relationship between you and the princess, it’s not the same. Tammy and I hardly know each other and what was going on between you and the princess was so obvious.”
“You and Tammy know each other better than you think. You can’t tell how obvious it is from inside the relationship.”
Pidge turned away. “If that’s true, then what’s she doing going off with Prince Bandor right now?”
“Just don’t let the fact that he’s a prince intimidate you. She deserves to be with whom she loves. Don’t lose her just because you think she’d be better off with a king as his queen.” Then Keith walked away leaving Pidge to ponder on his thoughts as he looked off into the distance.
Meanwhile, Prince Bandor and Tammy were enjoying a pleasant walk together. They exchanged stories about battles against Planet Doom and their other interests. Tammy had a love of technology and for nature and animals. Prince Bandor had strong interests in space exploration and the heritage and culture of Planet Pollux.
During the return walk back to the castle, the prince felt the urgency of his time being short. He loved everything about Tammy.
“Tammy,” said Prince Bandor. He stopped and reached for Tammy’s arm. She stopped, turned, and faced him. He took both of her hands in his. “Don’t leave to go back to Planet Arus. My sister and Sven can go instead. Sven can take your place on the Voltron force. Tammy, I love you.” Then Prince Bandor let go of Tammy’s right hand and went down on one knee. He held her left hand in both his hands as he kissed it. “Marry me. You’ll be my queen and we’ll rule Planet Pollux together.”
Tammy was shocked, and then tears streamed down her face. She took her hand back and turned away from the prince.
“What’s wrong?” asked Prince Bandor feeling crushed as he got to his feet.
“Prince Bandor, you’re very charming and I like you a lot, but I have my heart set on another.”
“And he loves you too,” said Prince Bandor very matter-of-factly as he lowered his head.
“I don’t know!” sobbed Tammy.
Prince Bandor felt a glimmer of hope inside him and he put his arms around Tammy to comfort her.
“But I do love you, Tammy. Stay here with me.”
“I’m sorry I can’t. I love Planet Arus. Being part of the Voltron force has been my dream. I can’t leave all that behind. Prince Bandor, someone else must be meant for you. My heart doesn’t belong here.”
Prince Bandor’s eyes became watery, but he didn’t cry. He turned Tammy toward him. “You maybe wrong. Until you know your heart belongs to another, I’ll be waiting for you.”
Tammy put her right hand on Prince Bandor’s cheek. “You deserve someone wonderful, Prince Bandor. She’ll find you.”
“She may already have.” Prince Bandor smiled and Tammy smiled back.
“We need to get back to the castle,” said Tammy starting to walk. “The Voltron force needs to get back to Arus.”
“They won’t be staying for the dance?”
“I don’t know, but we need to get back.”
When Pidge saw them coming back, he casually strolled back into the castle hoping that they wouldn’t notice that he had been watching for them. They hadn’t noticed.
Planet Arus had had no problems while Voltron was away, and with permission from Coran, Allura decided to have the Voltron force stay for the wedding dance. At the dance the groomsmen were in their tuxes and the bridesmaids including Allura were wearing their sky-blue full-length bridesmaid dresses. Sven was a handsome groom in his black tuxedo with white shirt, and Romelle was stunning in her full-length white wedding dress with the 15-foot train draped over her arm as she danced. Prince Bandor danced with Tammy right away. Pidge didn’t stand a chance of asking first. Seeing them dancing, Pidge lost all desire to dance at all and so he didn’t. At one point during the dance, Keith and Allura’s dancing caught Pidge’s attention. They looked so happy and lost in each other. Then Keith’s words from earlier came to Pidge’s mind, “You won’t forgive yourself if you lose her to Prince Bandor without knowing how she feels about you.” Then Pidge turned back to Prince Bandor and Tammy. With determination, he walked out onto the dance floor and cut in on them.
“May I have this dance,” Pidge asked Tammy as Prince Bandor politely moved away.
“Yes,” answered Tammy happily.
Prince Bandor looked back at the couple. His heart sank as he saw clearly in Tammy’s eyes that the person she had her heart set on was Pidge. And Pidge obviously had his heart set on Tammy. Still the prince had hope that Tammy would return to Planet Pollux someday in the near future and be his queen. Pidge and Tammy weren’t dancing long. It was the last song of the night’s dance. But they felt as though they were dancing along together on a cloud until it was over. Then they looked into each other’s eyes and longed for a kiss from the other, but it didn’t happen. Romelle and Sven got everyone’s attention and they both made a short speech thanking their guests. Then the Voltron force was excused to get ready to begin their trip back to Arus. Soon all the members had changed out of their wedding attire and then boarded the lions and began the flight back to Planet Arus.
Flying alone in red lion, Pidge pondered over the answer to Keith’s question. Then picturing Tammy in his mind he said aloud, “No, you don’t remind me of my kid sister anymore.”
