Fear, Forgiveness, Friendship

The following is a story of Voltron I made up based on the T.V. cartoon Voltron by World Events Productions. I did not have World Events Productions' permission to do the story and therefore it does not have World Events Productions' endorsement.
After the bride and groom (who were now King and Queen) had arrived, the wedding feast was soon started. Tammy got to sit next to Pidge and was also next to Sven. Even with Prince Bandor being two chairs down and sitting beside Romelle, Tammy felt uncomfortable from time to time when she would think of his presence at the table.
Pidge could sense Tammy’s discomfort and was sure it was because of what had recently happened between her and Prince Bandor. He also perceived that the prince looked ashamed over what had happened, based on Bandor’s expression when he caught a glimpse of Tammy. Then Pidge’s anger toward Bandor for hurting Tammy softened. He began to feel sympathy for what pain the prince must be going through and respected Bandor for seeing past his selfishness. Otherwise, Pidge thought he surely wouldn’t have looked like he felt so ashamed.
Despite the occasional discomfort, Tammy fully enjoyed most of the meal since sitting next to Pidge kept her mind off Prince Bandor’s presence most of the time.
After the meal the dance began. Keith and Allura danced as they had never danced before with Keith taking full advantage of his now completely healed shoulder. Pidge and Tammy were floating on the feelings of love they shared for each other as they danced the night away. Prince Bandor watched them, as he agonized over and over again in his mind on how he would apologize to Tammy.
Pidge was a little startled when he felt a tap on his shoulder. “May I have this dance?” asked Prince Bandor gentlemanly. Pidge sensed no threat in the request and stepped aside to allow the prince to dance with Tammy.
But Tammy did fear Bandor and she shuddered a little as he took her in his arms to continue the dance. Pidge saw her fear, but held himself back from stopping the situation. Prince Bandor’s eyes became watery at the sight of Tammy’s discomfort. She feared that he was going to continue to try to persuade her to marry him. It had hurt her enough to give him the answer twice before. And on top of needing to give him the difficult answer, he had relentlessly hurt her emotionally. She didn’t want to go through that again. She was so afraid, she didn’t even think to be angry with Pidge for allowing her to be in the situation.
“Tammy, I’m sorry,” apologized Bandor and a tear streamed down his right cheek.
Tammy’s fears melted away and her heart softened. She cared deeply for Prince Bandor and didn’t want to fear him. She welcomed the opportunity to let her fears go, and it allowed her to freely empathize with the pain Bandor was experiencing. Her eyes became watery as she more fully sensed the torment of feelings he must be experiencing.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you,” continued the prince. “I knew there was nothing I could do to stop the love between you and Pidge. I was angry and thoughtless. I’d never purposely hurt you. I knew you and Pidge would have each other so I didn’t care what I said. I’m sorry I hurt you. I suppose a part of me did do it on purpose, but only because I knew it wouldn’t cause you any real harm anyway. I guess at the time I felt that if you weren’t going to love me, I didn’t care how you felt about me. But I do care how you feel about me. I hope it isn’t too late for us to be friends. I care about you Tammy and I’m happy for you and Pidge. I’m sorry I let my personal pain cloud the happiness you’ve found.”
“Thanks you, Bandor. Yes, I very much want us to be friends. You’re a special person to me and I care about you deeply. I want you to be happy for me, and I want to see you happy. We’re not meant for each other, but you deserve someone wonderful, Prince Bandor. You deserve someone of you heart’s desire. It will happen and you’ll be so happy together. She will be a very fortunate to have you, and I’ll be happy for both of you.”
Tammy kissed Bandor on his right cheek and then a tear streamed out of her right eye. “I only pray that when you find her that nothing will have happened to Pidge. Because once you find her, I won’t stand a chance of winning back your heart. Pray that nothing happens to Pidge. I’m so happy now. I never want it lose it.”
Bandor smiled. “You’ll always be happy, Tammy. Pidge will always be there for you. I pray that you won’t have fears to have you wonder otherwise.”
Prince Bandor had guided Tammy back to where Pidge was waiting at the edge of the dance floor. As they neared Pidge, Bandor guided Tammy into a dance spin that surprised her to bring her straight back in contact in front of Pidge. There, Bandor let her go. “She’s all yours, sir.”
Pidge was also surprised, but was soon over it and he eagerly began to dance with Tammy again. His feelings of defensiveness over Prince Badnor were gone as he sensed that Tammy’s fears were gone. They both relaxed at each other’s touch and fully enjoyed each other’s presence as they dance on with no distracting ill thoughts.
