Story by Sheila Bliss

The following is a story of Voltron I made up based on the T.V. cartoon Voltron by World Events Productions. I did not have World Events Productions' permission to do the story and therefore it does not have World Events Productions' endorsement.

Keith and Allura’s wedding had been finally reset for two weeks after Sven and Romelle’s wedding. Even within a week Keith’s left arm had regained much of its strength through physical therapy.

Meanwhile on Planet Doom, Lotor was fully recovered from his injuries and felt even stronger than what he ever had. He knew of the upcoming wedding and wanted to spoil it again, taking care of Keith for good. But Hagar turned down all his demands to help him plot against the wedding.

“Lotor,” said Hagar, “Princess Allura is lost to you. Give it up. But I have been preparing a plan for revenge on Keith.”

“Really,” said Lotor intrigued. “What is it?”

“I’ll reveal it to you soon, all in good time. You just need to be patient my young prince. Things will fall into place and you will have your revenge against Keith.”

Back on Planet Arus, every one of the castle staff was wearing a communications wristband (even Nanny) to guard against any disasters that may happen like what happened before. But there were no problems and the wedding went well – in fact better than anyone would have imagined. Keith wore kingly attire and the princess wore the same white full-length wedding gown with a long train she had worn when the wedding had been postponed. It was similar to Romelle’s wedding dress. Romelle was the Matron of Honor and Sven was best man despite all the kidding Lance did with Keith saying Sven must have been bad luck to be the best man and that he should be best man to assure that all would go well. Lance, Hunk, and Pidge were all groomsmen, and Queen Orla, Tammy, and a castle servant were bridesmaids. The bridesmaid dresses, including Romelle’s dress, were floor-length pink gowns. Lance was matched with Queen Orla, Hunk with the castle servant, and Pidge with Tammy. Also attending the wedding was a healthy Prince Bandor. Previously he hadn’t planned on attending the wedding because of security concerns on Pollux, and then he ended up sick the day of the wedding anyway. He made sure he got to attend the wedding the next time around mainly because of the opportunity to see Tammy again.

It was a magical moment when it came time for Keith and Allura to exchange rings. As beautiful as the rings were, Keith and Allura hardly seemed to notice. They were so caught up in the feelings of love they had for each other. And then they kissed a simple but long and passionate kiss of love. Allura’s hands were on Keith’s shoulders as he held her around her waist. During that moment Allura’s wedding ring disappeared from her left hand and reappeared in a bright flash on the ring finger of her right hand and it continued to glow white. There also came a white glow from under Allura’s right hand where she was touching Keith’s injured left shoulder. As Keith and Allura broke their kiss and continued to look lovingly into each other’s eyes, the glowing stopped and the ring disappeared from Allura’s right hand and reappeared on the ring finger of her left hand, but there was no flash, only the ring’s natural sparkle.

Suddenly Keith swept Allura off her feet and kissed her again holding her in his arms. The audience gasped. Keith’s shoulder was completely healed! Allura’s eyes opened wide in surprise. Then she closed them again and enjoyed the kiss.

Keith carried Allura stepping even closer to the front of the church where he set her down and they knelt in front of the religious leader. Then Keith and Allura were crowned King and Queen of Arus. The religious leader gently removed Allura‘s circlet from her forehead (also needing to lift her headdress a little to get the circlet out from under it) before crowning her with a queen‘s crown. Had she married a prince from another planet, she would have symbolically been also given her father‘s crown. But, as it was, Keith was crowned with king Alfor’s crown. Soon after the happily wedded couple had left the church and the rest of their company had departed for the castle to attend the royal wedding reception, Nanny and Coran removed the crown jewels from Keith and Allura’s heads to take back to the castle for safe keeping. The religious leader was also there, and he handed Allura back her circlet. Nanny handed Coran the queen’s crown and helped Allura slip the circlet back under the headdress and into place on her forehead. It would continue to be her crown as queen, and like King Alfor, Keith would go without wearing a crown. It was tradition on Arus to do that. Even the first ruler of Arus, Queen Ariella, had two crowns. One of them was for daily use, although she did wear her fancier one daily after being crowned queen. A bigger crown for the queen became a part of the crown jewels after Ariella, and it was never worn for daily use. The first king had a crown as a prince, but after becoming king he no longer wore it or his new crown for daily use. And, princes after him didn’t wear crowns at all. And so tradition had been set.

Unnoticed even by Lance or the space mice, Witch Hagar’s blue cat slinked away from watching the proceedings just outside the church through a stain glass window.

Commentary: The reason the idea of the wedding rings was so essential for me was so that Keith could be traumatically injured and later miraculously healed. It was a story stuck in my head and I wavered whether to use it or not. I wanted to keep all the trauma of the fight scene in Wedding Terror and the opportunity to introduce Tammy in Short One Lion plus the idea kept playing out in my head so I kept it. I hate to admit that the rings sort of remind me of the lion paw thingy in Voltron the Third Dimension. I thought of the rings before Voltron the Third Dimension was aired, and I don’t like the lion paw thingy so I cringe at any similarities between the two. I don’t use the lion paw thingy in my stories because it’s one of many elements I didn’t like in Voltron the Third Dimension. To see great Voltron fiction using Voltron the Third Dimension within the continuation, check out Adele's website at http://www.alluraandkeith.homestead.com. Even the elements of Voltron the Third Dimension that I don’t like she writes about well! In Secrets of the Rings Revealed it shows well the differences between how the rings work in comparison to the lion paw thingy, that is if you have an idea how the lion paw thingy works. I added more information about how Keith and Allura were crowned King and Queen of Arus. I based some of the details off the animated episode about Planet Balto, during which Coran and Nanny were pushing so hard for Allura to get married. In that episode, it was shown that she’d get what was obviously her father’s crown. In this story I tried to make sense of that by saying that had she married a prince from another planet, she would be the one to keep her father’s crown. That would make sense in comparison to the animated episode because Coran and Nanny were expecting that she’d marry a prince from another planet. I used some information about Queen Ariella from Voltron the Third Dimension, but deviated in not using it completely. I did create a story about the first Queen and King of Arus, but I have yet to type it. To create it I used information of where they were actually shown in the animated series of Voltron. Don’t want to give out anymore spoilers than that. Any reader who’d like to know more can e-mail me and ask, and I’d tell more.
