The following is a story of Voltron I made up based on the T.V. cartoon Voltron by World Events Productions. I did not have World Events Productions' permission to do the story and therefore it does not have World Events Productions' endorsement.
After the robeast was destroyed, Keith ordered the team to disassemble back into their lions. Then without pausing to explain what he was doing, Keith headed off to board the main Doom ship.
“What’s he doing?” asked Hunk. "Sensors show that ship is in the process of exploding.”
“Pidge said he saw Lotor with a captive,” ventured Lance. “He’s probably attempting to save her.”
“We’ve got to go help Keith and then get out of here,” said Allura. “Anybody have any idea how much more time before the entire ship explodes?”
“We’ve got some time, and plenty of it as long as we just go in, find Keith, and get out of there right away,” answered Pidge.
Then they all spotted a ship departing from the exploding Doom flagship.
“Hey, that’s Lotor’s ship!” exclaimed Hunk.
“Anyone on board with him?” asked Lance.
“No one,” answered Pidge. “He must have left his captive behind.”
“That fiend!” exclaimed Hunk. “I’ll show Lotor who’s boss.” And with that he went in pursuit after Lotor.
“That’s good, Hunk,” said Lance. “That way he won’t be coming back to attack while we’re inside looking for Keith.”
The lions landed inside the cargo bay area. There, Darah, a Drule soldier, was still gripping onto the edge of the floor with one hand. She heard the commotion of the lions landing and of the pilots as they got out, and recognized their voices as the Voltron force. But, she continued to hang on silently, not trusting that they would help her if they saw her.
The team ran out of the cargo bay area and hadn’t noticed the nearby hole in the floor with the blue fingers blending in with the gray coloring of the floor. In the corridor just outside the cargo bay, they saw scattered patches of low burning flames on the floor. Keith had already put out the once burning blazes that had spanned between the walls, so they were no longer a problem.
“There he goes!” announced Lance as he spotted Keith far ahead of them taking a turn down another corridor. The three ran on to catch him. They turned down the same corridor Keith had, but they didn’t see him anywhere. Still they ran on without pausing until they came to a place in the corridor that ran three directions: to the left, right, and straight ahead.
“Where do you think he went?” questioned Pidge.
Lance heard the sound of metal being singed coming from the corridor on the left.
“This way!” yelled Lance, and he took off down the hall even before Pidge and the queen had a chance to look.
Then Allura and Pidge ran after him, but Lance was already far ahead. He turned down another corridor to the left and saw Keith just 20 feet down the hallway ahead of him.
“Lance,” said Keith with urgency in his tone. “Get a laser and help me cut this door.”
Lance obeyed without asking why.
“Stay back from the door!” Keith called through the door while they were cutting.
Just seconds after Lance had started helping, they had finished cutting all around the door. Then Keith kicked it hard with the full bottom of his boot, and it fell in. Keith and Lance rushed through the opening and into the room. At the same time they turned to the right and saw Keith’s sister.
“Sis!” “Karla!” said Keith and Lance at the same time.
“Lance! Keith!” said Karla, surprised to see them both.
Then Keith and Lance turned to each other. “You know her?” they asked at the same time, surprised.
Then they both turned to Keith’s sister and said while pointing at each other, “You know him?”
Meanwhile, Pidge and Allura were peeking around the opening of the doorway with expressions of shock on their faces.
“OK, this is weird,” commented Pidge, who didn’t know Keith had a sister until then and wondered how Lance knew her.
“Yes, it is,” agreed Allura who was also baffled how Lance would know Keith’s sister. “But, we don’t have time to figure it out. We’ve got to get out of here.”
Keith and Lance had been looking at each other, dumbfounded, and then Keith responded right after Allura finished, “Right, we’ve got to go!”
Keith put his arm on his sister’s shoulder gesturing for her to follow as Lance did the same thing, but Karla automatically took a hold of Lance’s hand and Lance held onto hers as if there was nothing surprising about it. But he did feel some discomfort over thinking Keith would have a negative reaction to it. And rightly so! A touch of anger appeared on Keith’s face in reaction to it, obviously imagining the “worst” of what must have happened “once upon a time” between his sister and Lance. But there wasn’t time to find out how Karla and Lance knew each other, and Keith turned his attention to getting off the failing Doom ship.
Allura and Pidge backed away from the doorway. Then Lance let go of Karla’s hand and he and Keith stopped to let her get through the doorway first. Keith glared at Lance menacingly as they did this and Lance cowered a little under the glare because he suspected Keith was suspicious of him regarding Karla. As a group, the five continued to run back through the corridors to get back to where the lion ships were. They hoped they hadn’t cut their time too short to make it out alive!
Commentary: Seems to be the stereotype in life that if a guy's best friend ever falls in love with his sister it creates a strain on the best friend relationship that can end it when the brother kicks into protective mode over his sister. So I used a bit of this stereotype when it came to Keith finding out that there had obviously once been something that happened between his sister and Lance, and that whatever it had been, the spark between them was still there. How Keith and Lance settle this out is yet to come!
