Love or Fury Hath No Fear?

Story by Sheila Bliss

The following is a story of Voltron I made up based on the T.V. cartoon Voltron by World Events Productions. I did not have World Events Productions' permission to do the story and therefore it does not have World Events Productions' endorsement.

Darah's spirit had been touched by much love. An overwhelmingly flood of it continued to pour on her. In Hunk she had discovered the power of love and found herself with a respect for it she didn't think could possibly exist. Even the unpredictable magic of the king's and queen's rings had touched her, for Hunk's love for her was greater than her love for herself. She hadn't been completely healed. Her distrust of herself wouldn't allow it. But the wound of her injury was gone and she had the assurance that any pain that would be caused by re-injury to her arm would heal and go away. The full strength of her arm would never come back. She knew that. She hadn't allowed it to come back. Despite all the love Darah had experienced and was still experiencing and all the respect she had for it, she was still not at peace with herself.

The very next day after Hunk and Darah had professed their love for each other, very early in morning before light had even begun to tint the darkness, Darah got up and sought a way to leave Arus. As she was walking by one doorway in a castle hallway, it suddenly opened. And there stood Karla, Keith's sister. She hadn't been able to sleep and was going to go for a walk, but was then stopped momentarily from going anywhere by the sight of Darah.

The two women had startled each other and each felt a touch of fear upon the sight of the other. Then, without saying anything, Darah suddenly bolted down the castle hallway at full speed. She was wearing her Drule military attire minus the cape. She had lost that during the time she was assisting Planet Doom in attacking Planet Earth.

Just after Darah had bolted away, Karla took off in the other direction yelling at the top of her lungs, "Ll - aa - nn - ccce! Lance! Lance!" running as fast as she could, gripped with fear that Darah could come back, run her down, and silence her for good. She was instinctively calling for Lance since the romantic connection of love she felt for him felt more familiar than even the bond she had with her own brother. And she had good reason to fear Darah considering that she had once volunteered to do away with her during Karla's imprisonment on a Doom ship.

Strong fear panged Darah's heart the moment she first heard Karla calling for help. But the feeling quickly passed, and she didn't allow it to slow her down. She only hoped she had enough head start to carry out her plans.

Karla was soon at the boys' bedroom door, pounding on it frantically. Lance had heard her calls and was already up and quickly opening the door. He was shocked to see Karla so fear stricken and standing there in her purple nightgown. She thrust herself forward into Lance's arms, gripping him tight for security. Lance had his arms wrapped around her automatically in effort to offer comfort.

"Karla, what's wrong?" he asked while still holding her shaking body tightly to him.

A wide awake Pidge was watching from his bunk above Hunk, while Hunk continued to soundly sleep right through it all. Karla released Lance and looked at him.

"It's Darah!" she began in urgent foreboding

Like a reflex, Hunk was suddenly wide awake upon hearing Darah's name. Instantly he had opened his eyes and sat up swinging his feet onto the floor. He had no idea what had been said. But he was automatically thinking about Darah, especially since it was hearing her name that woke him up.

And, he heard Karla continuing to explain to Lance, "Hurry! We've got to stop her! She's going to do something awful! I know she is!"

Karla's accusations weren't ringing true to Lance at all. He just couldn't imagine Darah purposely causing them any harm. Not after the change of character he had seen her go through.

Hunk figured they were talking about Darah, but he stayed quiet to figure out what was going on.

Lance put his hands on Karla's shoulders and said, "Karla, calm down. What's going on?"

"There's no time for that! We've got to stop her!" She pulled on his arm. "Come on!"

By that time Keith and Allura had come out of their room and were standing in the hallway in their night clothes. It was Keith who had been awakened by his sister's yelling, and Allura woke up when Keith bolted out of bed.

Then, just as Karla had started pulling on Lance's arm, the castle alarms went off.

"We're too late!" exclaimed Karla, letting go of Lance's arm.

"Karla, I'll be right back,” said Lance suddenly.

She had been turned away from him and then looked back only to see the bedroom door closing and no Lance. Seconds later, the door re-opened and Lance, Hunk, and Pidge came running out dressed in their casual clothes.

"Come on," said Lance taking a hold of Karla's hand. "We've got to get to Castle Control."

Keith and Allura had also gone back to their room and came running out changed into their casual clothes just after the boys had. Then the whole group of them was running to get to Castle Control with Lance and Karla leading the pack. Once they were in Castle Control they saw Tammy was already there beside Coran. The royal adviser had been there all night on night duty, but Tammy was quick on the draw on getting there before the others as soon as the castle alarms had sounded.

"So what took you all so long?" she asked humorously though she had only gotten there seconds before them.

"What do you do? Sleep in your clothes?" Lance quipped right back just after he and the others had come to a halt.

"No, but you would need to, to beat me."

"Coran, what's going on?" asked Karla in a serious urgent tone.

"Someone has taken one of our spacecrafts," answered Coran calmly.

"It's Darah!" announced Karla. "You've got to find out where she went!"

Hunk began backing away from the group in disbelief. He knew Darah would never cause any of them harm.

Using the castle systems, Coran began searching for where the ship could have gone. Soon he had a lock and a distant view of the craft in space, already quite a ways from Arus. Coran attempted to establish visual communication, but all they got was a glimpse of Darah in the pilot seat just before she cut off all links for communication.

Hunk had backed himself up all the way to the elevator setup by the time they all had gotten a glimpse of Darah. And that's all it took to convince him of what might be going on. With no indication to the others of his intentions, he swiftly turned, grabbed onto his hanger elevator, and was gliding down to the shuttle that would take him to yellow lion.

Everyone else was still staring at a blank black visual screen by the time Hunk had left.

"What do you think she's up to?" asked Tammy.

"You've got to go after her!" urged Karla.

"Hunk, what do you think she's trying to do?" asked Pidge. He waited a moment for an answer and then said, "Hunk?"

Everyone turned to look, and Pidge exclaimed, "He's gone!"

Then everyone heard a lion roar. They turned back to the view screen to see that yellow lion had left Arus and was flying away in space.

"He's already on his way," stated Keith. "All right team. To the lions. We've got to find out what's going on."

Keith, Lance, Allura, and Pidge started running for the hangers. Karla caught Lance just as he started running. He stopped, turned, and looked at her.

"Be careful, Lance," she said and then gave him a passionate kiss which he thoroughly enjoyed.

When the kiss ended, he looked at her and said, "Wow! I hope I get that EVERY time I go off to fly the lions!"

Karla pouted, indignant over Lance making light of the situation.

Lance smiled big over getting the best of her, winked, and said, "Catch ya later," before taking off for the elevators, lagging behind everyone else who were already gone. But, soon he had arrived inside red lion, and after taking off was flying in formation with the rest of the lions.

Keith immediately established a visual communications link with Hunk after he had the black lion in flight.

"Hunk, pull back and wait for the rest of us to catch up. This could all be a trap."

"Sorry. Nothin' doin', Chief," replied Hunk. "I know I've been wrong before, but I know I'm not wrong this time. Darah's gonna end up getting herself hurt or worse. I've got to catch her before she does. Hunk out."

Then Hunk broke off the connection. He thought to himself, "I don't know what you're doing, Darah. But I know you'd sacrifice yourself for friends, and that whatever you're doing, it's got something to do with that. I only wish you'd love yourself as much as I love you. Then you wouldn't be doing this."

Back with the rest of the Voltron force, Allura advised Keith, "Keith, I think Hunk is right. Darah is our friend now. She wouldn't intentionally cause us harm."

Keith paused in thought and then asked, "Lance, what do you think?"

"I think Karla's fears of Darah are well founded in knowing the dangerous skills Darah has. But she's not that same person anymore. Hunk knows her, as she is now, better than any of us. The big guy is right."

"I agree with you Lance," said Keith. "But despite her intentions, I fear she may still be leading us all into a trap. I only hope Hunk realizes that. Expectation is the best aid to preparation."

"Since when did you become a philosopher?" jeered Lance.

"As captain of the Voltron force, you've got to be a little bit of everything."

"She had a head start, but Hunk should catch her soon," said Pidge getting back on subject. "That craft she's in can't stay ahead of any one of the lions. Not with the head start she's got." Then something happened on his instrument panel that shocked Pidge. "Whah!" he exclaimed.

"What's wrong Pidge?" asked Keith. "Wait! I see it too!"

"How'd she do that?" asked Lance and Allura at the same time as they saw the same thing on their instrument panels.

"I don't know," answered Pidge. "But somehow she got that thing moving almost as fast as one of the lions at top speed."

Keith replied with the idea, "We could form Voltron, but even with blue lion, without yellow lion our energy would be under par and unstable. It wouldn't last for any great distance and the energy sources of each of the lions could suffer for it."

"You're probably right, Skipper," agreed Pidge. "Our best bet would be to keep the lions' energy levels at an optimum so if we end up going all the way to wherever she's going, and if we need Voltron, we'll be ready to give it our best punch."

"OK, then that's what we'll do. And maybe Hunk can catch her yet," decided Keith.

Hunk's confidence in catching Darah anytime soon was shattered when he saw the reading of her sudden burst of speed over his instrument panel.

"Drat!" said Hunk aloud pounding his right fist down soundly, yet not too hard, on the instrument panel in front of him. "How'd she do that?"

He continued to pursue her, but made little gain on her compared to how he was doing before.

Darah knew exactly where she was going and what she planned to do. She only hoped that the new found God of love who transformed her heart would grant her this favor she sought as easily as the evil gods worshipped by the Drule Empire would have. This new found God was the source of the greatest, longest existing power of all time -- the power of love. Regardless of what happened, she knew she could trust this God to do all things for good. The evil gods couldn't be counted on for anything. But whether it was right or wrong, Darah felt compelled to carry out her purpose for leaving Arus -- to go back to Planet Doom. Not to rejoin their forces, but to take out the heir of it all; to do away with the one who had sought to do away with her, the self-centered one with such apathy for his own people, to rid the empire of the Prince of Doom. She was following all the instincts of her fury to track him down and snuff him out of existence.

On Planet Doom, Lotor stood on a barren hillside near the castle overlooking more barren territory of Doom. Just the day before he had had his experience with Merla who had disguised herself as Queen Allura. Lotor had seen through it all, and it just wasn't good enough for him. Merla had hoped to convince Lotor not to become a robeast, but instead only succeeded in briefly postponing his plans. Out of mindless habit, Lotor still slept with Merla that night, but all night long he had it set in his mind to carry out his plans of becoming a robeast and finishing Voltron off for good the next day. When the next day came, also fresh in his mind was his encounter with "Allura" who had turned out to be Merla. He was bitter over wishing that it had all been real. So there he stood on that barren hill, obsessing over his lost princess, Queen Allura.

As Darah approached the planet, the Prince of Doom was still outside. She knew exactly the right modifications to make to the ship to allow it to pass safely through Planet Doom's shielding around the entire planet. It was simpler than the modifications she had made that had greatly increased the ship's speed. Darah entered the atmosphere of Doom without complications. Then she followed the instincts of her fury to seek out the Prince of Doom -- Lotor, whom she despised. Then she saw him, standing alone on a barren hill. There was no weaponry on her ship to fire at him. So instead she flew straight for him in an attempt to run him down.

Lotor saw her coming and fell flat to the ground making her miss him. She landed the craft just 20 feet beyond him and jumped out, ready to face him in battle. Lotor got up from the ground, brushed himself off, and said, "You're still alive? We have no more use for you. Return to wherever it was you came from and bother me no more. Unless of course, it's my father's throne you want and you stupidly think it's going to help to challenge me first. But you don't have the royal challenge to challenge my father like I do. Even if you could defeat me . . . and I do mean IF . . . you'd have to defeat all who would guard my father to even earn the privilege of fighting him. Just as he once did to have his throne in the first place. If that be your intent, then you are more feeble-minded that I ever imagined anyone could be!"

"I'm no longer of the Drule Empire," replied Darah so very coldly.

A look of shock came across Lotor's face. Then he said, "You traitor! You know, I never did like you. This just all the better reason for getting rid of you. Oh, and there'll be no room for turning back, Darah. You're done for!"

"It would be complete dishonor to honor itself and to all things greater than honor if I ever turned back."

Lotor completely dismissed any significance of her philosophical comment and said, "Whatever."

Then he and Darah unsheathed laser swords at the same time. They stood still for a while, studying the other for the right time to strike. But, Lotor almost immediately noticed Darah holding her sword with her right hand along with her left. Then he noticed through the tear in her uniform that there was no wound or even a scar on her right shoulder where there should have been. Fury welled up inside him as the sight brought back memories of how a ring had completely healed Captain Keith's shoulder, and he suspected that somehow the same thing had happened to Darah. Then Lotor charged her. Their swords met with Darah deflecting him. Pain seared down her right arm, but she managed not to reveal the discomfort.

Lotor sneered, "I see that some magic of rings must have wheeled their work on your right shoulder. No matter. You're done for!"

And he charged her again. This time when their swords clashed, he pushed up hard against her. Stubbornly, she pushed back, but his strength was greater, and he managed to push her laser sword back with his laser sword within inches of her neck. It was then that he saw up close through the tear of her uniform that it appeared that her shoulder was indeed completely healed. The sight enraged the fury already started within Lotor to be even greater. With incredible strength, he pushed hard to drive Darah's own laser blade against her. But instead the shove pushed her aside and drove her to the ground.

Darah let out a cry of agony as the impact re-injured her right shoulder to its unhealed previous condition, minus any wound or scarring of any kind.

"What kind of lame incomplete magic is this?" questioned Lotor in angry shock.

He leapt over to Darah and pinned her to the ground with his right foot down the length of her sternum and the point of his laser sword just centimeters from her throat.

"From where did you get this magic?" he demanded, convinced that it couldn't have been from the rings that had completely healed Keith.

"Do you really think I'd tell you?" Darah retorted.

In instant reaction to that, Lotor let out a menacing grunt and started to pull his sword up a little, ready to impale her right through the throat, but was suddenly hit as if by the speed of a freight train and the force of a charging rhino.

Lotor flew some distance away. He rolled back to see who his new assailant was.

"Hunk, no!" Darah practically shrieked. "You'll get hurt!"

Hunk challenged Lotor, "Try me on for size instead of a little lady, you scum!"

Lotor leapt backwards, getting up quickly to his feet. Then he suddenly started to laugh at the sight of his new opponent and said, "You? Your strength is no match for me, you oaf!" He had faced Hunk once before on the Love Bridge of Planet Arus, and had little problem getting the upper hand of the battle as Hunk had tried to protect Princess Allura. But being at least a tad afraid of heights, Hunk had that as an added disadvantage.

Hunk had gotten Darah's laser sword, and standing there with it, he retorted, "Oh yeah?" just before he leaped high in the air toward Lotor, yelling a battle cry, looking ready to slice the Doom prince in half.

Lotor was actually gripped with fear by the sight of the intensity of Hunk's fury as he was coming down upon him. But, Lotor moved out of the way just in time, making Hunk completely miss him.

"You'll have to move faster than that to be any sort of match against me," said Lotor. Then he charged Hunk, and their laser swords clashed. They dueled for a while with mighty blows. To make sport of it all, Lotor was purposely holding back on using speed or stealth to test out the strength of his mechanical arm against Hunk.

Lotor soon grew bored of it and said, "I'm through toying with you, pilot."

He began making more speedy strikes at Hunk, soon managing to strike a nasty blow to Hunk's forearm, drawing blood and making Hunk drop his sword.

"Ouch!" exclaimed Hunk. "You're gonna pay for that!"

"It is you who will be paying dearly," retorted Lotor.

Hunk yelled out a battle cry and driven by fury, he charged straight into Lotor without even a sword. It happened so fast, Lotor didn't get his sword up to block it, and Hunk knocked him off his feet. Because of the fall, Lotor's laser sword went flying a good 50 feet away. Hunk had fallen right along with Lotor and was on top of him.

Then it was Lotor's turn to be furious. He seized Hunk by the throat with his life-like, except for it's metallic color, mechanical hand; gathered his feet beneath himself, and slammed Hunk to the ground so Lotor was then on top.

"I said no more games," sneered Lotor to a speechless Hunk who couldn't talk or even breath under Lotor's grip. "I think I'll just squeeze the life right out of you." Then the Prince of Doom noticed Darah's laser sword that Hunk had been using was within arm's reach. "Ah, but a laser sword would add such a nice touch," he said as he was reaching over with his left hand to pick up the sword, all the while watching Hunk suffer under his grip.

But, just as his left hand touched the handle of the sword, Lotor received an incredible blow knocking him backwards and unconscious. The crack from the sound of the blow was tremendous as Darah's foot had hit dead on, right to Lotor's jaw.

Hunk sat up and gasped as air was finally available to him. Then he looked over at the unconscious Lotor and said as if he could hear him, "Smarts doesn't it?" An appropriate jeer coming from Hunk since he well knew himself what it was like to be kicked in the chops by Darah. Then he looked back to Darah and said, "For a moment I thought his head was going to go flying like a football."

Darah gave Hunk an inquisitive look upon hearing the term "football," but then suddenly recognized what he was talking about and smiled.

"You know what football is?" asked Hunk.

"I did hear some stories about it before from Drules who had played against the Voltron force of the Space Ship Explorer. The idea of temporary friendship with our enemies used to make me ill to hear." she paused and then looking straight into Hunk's eyes she said, "I had no appreciation for the purpose of the Alliance until I met you, Hunk." She reached out and touched Hunk's neck with her good arm and asked, "Are you OK? You shouldn't have come."

"I'm just fine, and I had to come. If I hadn't, we would have lost you. What were you trying to prove?"

Darah's eyes began to turn watery. As they both sat there, Hunk reached out to hold her arms in a caring manner. He was intentionally tender in how he touched her bad arm, but it still caused her excruciating pain.

"Ahh!" she shrieked.

Hunk pulled his hand back immediately while still holding her other arm with his other hand. Darah fell forward and leaned her head on Hunk' s chest for comfort. Except for the agony she felt in her shoulder, it was the most comfortable she had ever felt in her life. Both their hearts were passionately beating, but Hunk had found Darah's cry of pain to be heartbreaking.

"You've all been so kind to me, Hunk. I don't deserve it. I came here in the futile attempt that I could defeat Lotor. It didn't matter if I lost. I'm expendable. But all of you were worth my trying."

"Darah, you're arm . . . You're hurt again."

"It'll heal, Hunk. Like I said it doesn't matter anyway. You shouldn't have come. I don't know what I'd do if you wouldn't have survived."

"It does matter, Darah. It matters a great deal."

Darah touched Hunk's bleeding forearm, where it was clean, with the left hand of her good arm.

"I'm so sorry you were hurt," her voice cracked with remorseful sorrow as tears suddenly streamed down her face.

"Darah, that's nothing. I'm fine. Please don't ever do anything like that again. I care too much about you. Nothing would hurt me more than to lose you."

"But you hardly know me."

"Don't I? I think I do."

Darah turned her head and looked up into Hunk's face, shocked over the affection he was expressing for her, the affection she could plainly see in his eyes as he was looking back at her, but even then she couldn't believe it.

Both longed to envelop the other with a passionate kiss, something they had experienced with each other only once before. But, the moment was lost when the rest of the Voltron force arrived and landed near yellow lion. Within moments the team was out of their lions and were standing before Hunk and Darah who were still sitting on the ground holding each other.

"What's going on?" asked Keith. "Are you both all right? Is your arm going to be ok for flying, Hunk?"

"What happened to Lotor?" questioned Allura after she saw him laying on the ground. A sickening feeling started to pass through her as she had a fear for the worst. "He's not . . ."

"Darah knocked him out with her foot," answered Hunk recognizing what the queen's concern would be. "He's all right until he feels the pain when he wakes up."

"Wow! We've never had the chance to detain Lotor before," said Pidge.

"And we're not gonna," replied Keith. "It's against Alliance policy and it's not the policy of Planet Arus."

"Well, that's not completely true," Pidge mumbled to himself. The Alliance was well known for not taking prisoners and freeing people in their custody such as Drules. But, the policy of Planet Arus wasn't as clear, and prison was an option.

"Do we just leave him?" asked Lance.

Lotor let out a moan of pain as he began to come to.

"Then again, let's just ask him,” suggested Lance humorously. "Hey Lotor, wanna come back with us so we can check you out and make sure you're ok?"

"Ahh!" yelled Lotor in pain as he sat up rubbing his jaw and looked around to see what was going on. Lance's question to him was just beginning to register. An intense feeling of hatred at the sight of the Voltron force awakened Lotor to clear consciousness. He instinctively searched about his area for a weapon. Finding none, he quickly drew his laser gun.

"Fire that and your face is gonna re-kiss my foot!" barked Darah while still sitting comfortably with Hunk.

Lotor had still not completely gained back his sense for thinking rationally yet, though he was clearly conscious. So in response to Darah's threat, he started staggering himself backwards on his hands while holding his gun he had abruptly decided not to fire. Then he stood up, holstered his gun, turned, and began to run away! The sight of Lotor fleeing the scene shocked everyone. Darah and Hunk even stood up to watch.

Then suddenly Lotor stopped, turned around, and looked back. He had just realized the folly of what he'd done.

"Don't be thinking you won't pay for this!" Lotor shouted to them all. Then he turned and calmly walked away, though he was seething with anger.

Everyone had been shocked to see Lotor run away. But, after hearing his message of warning, the full humor of the situation finally struck them, and they all laughed.

"Looks like you really kicked him senseless," Hunk told Darah.

"Let's go, team," began Keith, still smiling, "before Lotor returns to brew some real trouble for us." Then Keith's turned more serious. "Wait." And he turned to Hunk, "Hunk, I've got to ask you something before we go. Over here."

Hunk obeyed, and the two of them walked a short distance from the others so as not to be overheard.

"Now don't be angry," the King of Arus began. "But, what's with Darah? Can we trust her, or did she side with Lotor? I need to know."

"Keith, if you knew the reason she came here, you'd be ashamed to even ask me."

"I thought so. And, I'm confident you're right."

Keith looked over at the others a short distance away and ordered, "All right, let's all head home. And, the sooner the better."

So everyone headed back for Arus in the lions. Darah rode with Hunk in yellow lion, but they were distant and silent with each other the whole trip back. Both were contemplating thoughts of uncertainty over the other, and not daring at the time to ask questions to work those uncertainties out.

Commentary: Which is the stronger emotion with regards to its power over fear: love or fury? Was it Darah's self-sacrificing love for her new found friends, or her fury to do away with Lotor? Hunk's love for Darah blinding him of his own safety, or his fury over the idea of her being hurt? Darah's love for Hunk blinding her of her own safety, or her fury over the idea of him being hurt? Perhaps I should have called the story "Love and Fury Hath no Fear," but I wanted to pose the question of which one is the stronger. This wasn't a story that I had originally planned on writing. A reader had questioned me about what the reaction of the forces of Doom and that of the Drule Empire would be over the loss of Darah which Lotor thought he had caused in the story Accidental Destruction . That question spurred me to think about that it'd probably be a great story to have Lotor and Darah face each other again, but this time with Darah ready and raring to fight him. So I wrote this story and got to show Lotor's reaction to seeing that Darah had survived. It was also during Accidental Destruction that Darah's shoulder was injured. The story mentioned within this story about Darah's shoulder being partially healed happened within the story Hunk's Urgent Request , as well as when Hunk and Darah had professed their love for each other. This story is a big reason why I decided why the rings in the story Hunk's Urgent Request would only partially heal Darah's arm rather than my original reaction to have the rings have no reaction at all. Because then, at least with her arm partially healed, Darah would at least be able to fly a ship if the stress on her arm was minimal, but she still wouldn't be able to withstand flying one of the lions. I was thinking of putting this story before the story Lotor and Allura? , because I had originally thought of Lotor's last straw being after his experience with Merla in disguise. But, it wasn't working well for me to have that event happen the next day after Merla had her vulture back in the story When Evil Can Do No Harm , and seemed to work better to have it happen right after Merla had gotten her vulture back. Then the event with Darah and Lotor had to happen the next day because Darah sneaks away from Arus early in the morning of the next day. So Lotor then will do drastic measures in a later story, as a result of the fury he's experiencing just after his fight with Darah, but also in light of his memory of his recent experience with Merla in disguise. This story FINALLY marks the start of a new day, after a day that spanned 17 stories! That LONG day starts sometime during the time expressed at the end of the story Under Enemy Control with the statement "...Hunk and Darah continued on their long journey together for Arus in silence," and ends with the story Lotor and Allura? with 15 stories in between. Darah had lost her cape during the story Accidental Destruction . Also during that story was when Karla had met Darah and developed her fear of the female Drule when Darah offered to do away with Karla. The romantic connection Karla has with Lance is found within the previous stories Keith's Sister , To Their Surprise , Flying Debris of Destruction , Confessions between Keith and Lance , Surprise Confession , and To Tell the Truth . A strong connection between Hunk and Darah is shown in this story. The connection they have between each other can also be seen in the previous stories Extraordinary Robot Ship , Target: Galaxy Garrison , Saving The Enemy , Flying Debris of Destruction , Under Enemy Control , For Hunk to Decide , Confessions between Keith and Lance , Surprise Confession , Cousin to Cousin , To Tell the Truth , Hunk's Urgent Request , and Romelle's Side of the Story although in many of these stories the suggestion of the connection between Hunk and Darah is very brief and in Romelle's Side of the Story their names are merely mentioned together. In the cartoons, Lance seemed to have a keen sense as to whether a particular person was trustworthy or dangerous even by just briefly encountering them. So in this story I show Lance having insight into Darah's character and Keith inquiring of Lance as to what he thinks Darah is up to. Hunk has been wrong before when it comes to judging whether a person is trustworthy or dangerous, such as the mistake he made in the cartoons to trust Twyla. But, in this story I have Keith trust Hunk's judgment, but it's after Keith had already gotten Lance's initial view of the situation. I also have Keith and Allura trust Hunk's judgment in the story For Hunk to Decide . Yes, according to a cartoon episode, Hunk is afraid of heights. Thus, as I see it, the cartoon episode with Hunk battling Lotor on the Love Bridge was a definite disadvantage to Hunk. Tammy is Pidge's girlfriend, and she was in the cartoon series. The story Short One Lion is a good start for learning more about her. The conversation about football between Hunk and Darah, I used information from an episode of the Vehicle Voltron series that showed a temporary truce between the crew of the Explorer and that of a group of Drules, and they played a game of American football against each other. The part where Darah mentions that she thinks herself as being expendable, is yet another thing she has in common with Hunk who also thought of himself as expendable during one of the cartoon episodes. So he is familiar with the feelings she's facing. The part in the story about whether to take Lotor prisoner or not, I based the Alliance policy off of Vehicle Voltron episodes during which Drule soldiers weren't kept as prisoners, and I based the policy of Arus partly off the episode during which Pidge had found a boy, Tommy, whom he thought was a looter, and it was at least implied that such people were being jailed.
