The following is a story of Voltron I made up based on the T.V. cartoon Voltron by World Events Productions. I did not have World Events Productions' permission to do the story and therefore it does not have World Events Productions' endorsement.
Darah had been retrieved from Planet Doom by the Voltron force, and traveled back to Arus with Hunk aboard yellow lion. She had been ready to sacrifice herself for her friends on the slim chance that she could make a difference, and also had harbored a motive for revenge on Lotor. Hunk had arrived in time to save her from what turned out to be her futile attempts to do away with the Prince of Doom. Once back on Arus, the lions were stored away in their resting spots; their dens strategically located for optimum recharging of their separate energy sources.
After parking the yellow lion deep within the ground under the desert lion statue, Hunk finally turned to Darah and said, "You've been awfully quiet this whole trip back."
"So have you."
"Yeah, I . . . I guess I'm feeling at a loss, Darah, and I just don't know what to do."
"I'm feeling the same way. What do we do?"
There was more awkward silence. Then Hunk stood up and walked over to Darah who was sitting on the floor behind the pilot chair and said while bending over to assist her to stand, "Here, I'll help you . . ." and then he stopped mid sentence as they were then both standing and staring into each others eyes. Both were experiencing overwhelming feelings of passion for the other. Then suddenly they kissed each other, long and passionately, over and over again, until they finally broke it off and stood there hugging each other.
"I love you so much, Darah," professed Hunk not looking at her as he continued to hug her close. "But I don't know why. I hardly know you. But I feel like I know you better than I've ever known anyone before."
"I feel the same way," revealed Darah, and they parted from each other to see the other's face as they held hands, all the while Hunk being careful not to add to the pain of her right arm. "I love you so much, Hunk. You've shown me what love is. Because of you, I'm a different person now. I don't ever want to lose you, Hunk, but you deserve better than me."
Hunk's eyes became teary, and he replied, "You don't know how it hurts me to hear you say that. For me, there is no one better than you. Please love yourself for who you are now, and stop hating yourself over who you used to be. I do. I love you for who you are now, and I've got no hard feelings over who you used to be. I've forgiven you. Forget about anyone who won't and forgive yourself."
Darah was teary over Hunk's heartfelt love for her that she felt she was so undeserving of. Upon his request that she forgive herself, she answered, "For you, I will."
"Darah, don't do it for me. You've got to do it for yourself."
"Perhaps someday. But for now, I do it for you."
Hunk was hurt over Darah's answer, but then she kissed him with such passion that she wanted and deserved his love, Hunk found it within himself to accept that loving herself for the sake of him was good enough. At least for the time being.
When they finally parted they got into a shuttle jet together and went back to the Castle of lions, where their friends had been left to wonder about what was taking them so long. Upon their arrival, the answer was obvious, seeing how close the two of them were when they were back. No one dared inquire about it though. Hunk and Darah seemed so lost in each other, that at least for the meantime it seemed quite rude to everyone for anyone to ask about it.
Commentary: This is a very short story I felt compelled to write to give a little more closure to what I felt were still loose ends from the story Love or Fury Hath No Fear? . Yet at the end of this story, I still feel like there are loose ends, but they will be dealt with later. The other main reason I wrote this little story was that it was a vivid idea in my imagination that after Hunk and Darah returned to Arus, they would take longer than expected to return back to the castle, and it just seemed a little much to add at the end of Love or Fury Hath No Fear? , so I made it into a separate story. In the cartoon episodes, it's never shown how the pilots return to the castle after returning the lions to their dens. So I took a stab at guessing how they do it by describing that Hunk and Darah returned to the castle in the same jet shuttle that takes a pilot to yellow lion.
