Sven and Romelle’s Wedding

Story by Sheila Bliss

The following is a story of Voltron I made up based on the T.V. cartoon Voltron by World Events Productions. I did not have World Events Productions' permission to do the story and therefore it does not have World Events Productions' endorsement.

A week after Keith’s injury to his shoulder by Prince Lotor, Keith wasn’t feeling groggy anymore. But, Dr. Ghorma insisted that Keith stay bed ridden most of the time so his shoulder would heal better. By that time Prince Bandor was almost recovered from how sick he was just after Keith and Allura’s wedding had been postponed. After two weeks Prince Bandor had completely recovered, but since the Voltron force had Tammy for a pilot, Sven and Romelle didn’t return to Planet Arus because it was no longer urgent for Sven to be an acting pilot on the Voltron force. Even at that time Dr. Ghorma continued to keep Keith pretty much bed ridden. Keith was good about following doctor’s orders, but was feeling really stir-crazy. By three weeks, the doctor let Keith walk around pretty much as Keith pleased, but still didn’t allow him to sleep in his own bed. Keith’s entire left arm was in a brace that kept it from moving – not even his fingers. After five weeks, the doctor let Keith sleep in his own bed. Then finally after six weeks, Dr. Ghorma said Keith’s shoulder was as healed as what it was ever going to be. For the first time, the brace was removed and Keith started physical therapy with his left arm to regain some strength.

A week after that, Sven and Romelle had a wedding date set. Keith was to be the best man and Allura was to be the maid of honor. The problem was going to be the space travel for Keith to get to Planet Pollux. Dr. Ghorma finally okayed Keith flying with Allura in black lion as long as he wore his brace and as long as they didn’t engage in battle. Then the whole team left using the lions to go to Planet Pollux. Coran was prepared to defend Planet Arus against attack with castle defenses, and the Voltron force would head straight back to Planet Arus if trouble did arise. Castle forces would be able to defend the planet long enough for the Voltron force to return if there was an attack.

Fortunately for them, for the meantime neither Planet Arus nor Planet Pollux were in the forces of Planet Doom’s plans as a focus of their next attack. And Witch Hagar was still planning and preparing for the target they did plan on attacking. But the Voltron force didn’t know this and were prepared to battle if they had to.

Sven and Romelle had a beautiful wedding. As planned, Keith was the best man and Princess Allura was the maid of honor. Prince Bandor, Lance, Hunk, and Pidge were all groomsmen. Three castle servants on Planet Pollux and Tammy were bridesmaids. Pidge was matched up with Tammy. And so the wedding took place and at long last, Sven and Romelle were finally married.

After being husband and wife, Romelle remained a princess. Prince Bandor was heir to the throne so Romelle did not become queen. She had been next in line after her brother Avok to be heir to the throne, but she passed that on to her younger brother. Bandor was not yet king of Pollux. Though in some cultures even children have been kings, on Planet Pollux rules of age and marriage applied to their monarchy as was the case on their sister planet, Arus.

The wedding was uneventful, or so it seemed. What others didn’t realize was how attracted Prince Bandor had become to Tammy.

Commentary: This is as much a transition story as a transition story gets! I didn’t feel inspired to do any conversations, or to be more specific of details of Sven and Romelle’s wedding so very little detail is described. I did later add the information clarifying that Romelle was still a princess. I didn’t go into detail about what Sven would be because I don’t know enough about the general rules of royalty as to what he would be. “Rules of royalty” is a term I made up to describe the whole title process involved with royalty. I haven’t come across a better way to describe that process. Romelle passing on her birthright as heir to the throne to Bandor is not something from the animated series. It’s just something I decided that would happen. To see more about it, read the commentary at the end of Why Keith Should be King.
