It was the night before Valentine's Day. Allura was in the middle of checking her closet for something more elegant to wear, and most important something which would not be "pink." But Nanny had other plans for her. She was hoping that tomorrow her baby would might fall in love with one of the princes who were being invited for that day. So, she prepared Valentine's Day attire for the princess with a lot of frills and lace and of course its color was PINK, the universal color of love for Nanny. It was lying on the bed carelessly. But, Allura wanted to celebrate the Valentine's Day in the memory of the loving past she had with her parents, not with any dumb prince. "Or, might Keith take me anywhere to cherish that day?
But no, no, no. . . he would be too busy in the control room or in his black lion or working on some software on his laptop or. . ." Allura was in her deep thoughts when there came a knock at the door. "Yes come in, please," answered the princess still searching for the right dress for the special day. It was one of her maids carrying a box covered in lovely wrapping..
"Your highness, it's for you from the children of Voltronia village," said the maid with a smile on her lips.
"Oh, thank you very much for bringing me this gift from the children, Tisha," said princess while taking the package from her maid.
It is their soft-hearted princess that everyone cares about. They often send her flowers, gifts and other souvenirs as the token of their love and loyalty to her.
"Please do tell them that and I'll visit them personally for thanks," said the princess. With nodding the maid left.
"Hmmm, what might be in the box," thought the princess. "I bet some rag dolls the girls promised to send me, or perhaps something else." In amazement, Allura forgot to blink her eyes upon seeing such a lovely red dress for Valentine's Day. Most obvious was that it was a most lovely RED color, and not the commonplace PINK she almost always wore. And although Allura had grown quite tiresome of frills and lace, on the account of Nanny always pushing them on her, the exquisite frills and lace of this lovely red dress had Allura excited to wear it!
Allura picked up the card which had been placed on top of that dress with that same golden red rose, the rare species that she along with her father used to make beautiful bouquets for her mother on Valentine's Day. This all was obviously not from the Voltronia village as Tisha had said it was. She picked up that rose and smelled it. The memory of joyous days of the past became fresh again in her mind. "Oh, Keith I knew that you care," Allura whispered under her breath and then opened the card. "Please meet me tomorrow at 7a.m. near the cottage of that legendary love bridge. There is something important that I want to show you. And please, I would be very pleased if you come wearing this for me. Keith."

Allura's heart filled with joy. She danced and swirled singing a verse of a play "The Princess On The Road" by Kathleen Conyngham Greene, "For me are your songs as your smiles and your tears. . ." She stood in front of her large mirror while holding her special Valentine's dress against herself, checking how it'd look on her.
Keith was lying on his bed thinking about the earlier incidents of the day with both of his hands clasped behind his head. He actually smiled a huge grin upon remembering how Lance and everybody had teased him earlier, and then came the thought of the lovely princess, his princess blushing and being shy. A sigh escaped him. He had fallen in love with her from the first day he saw her. It was not her legendary beauty which had made that iced captain melt, but it was the purity of her inner soul which was rare, very rare indeed, thought Keith. He often tried really hard to put away that ice shell he had on but. . . the thought of losing his loved ones as he had lost his parents mysteriously in the past and those haunting dreams he had since his childhood scared him the most. And that he hadn't shared that with anyone accept Lance. A knock on the door made Keith jump out of his thoughts and back into reality. Lance came in with his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket whistling a tune of a love song.
"Hey, Mr.Romeo, somebody has given me this to deliver to you privately."
Lance said as he was pretending to be jealous while giving a red envelope to Keith.
"Who has given it to you?" asked Keith with curiosity.
"Go see for yourself. Huh. . . and all the time I thought it was me that she was interested in," said Lance in a low tone while making a face. He sighed and then said, "I wish she were my Juliet for Valentine's Day." Then Lance left the room with a mysterious grin on his face.
Keith was surprised to see Lance acting strange but when he opened the envelope and found that the letter was actually from Allura, he laughed really hard over the words of always his fun-loving friend. The letter was from Allura's royal letter pad which Keith recognized. It said "Please meet me tomorrow at 7a.m. near the cottage of that legendary love bridge. There is something important that I want to talk to you about. Allura."
"What does she want to say," thought Keith, "well what ever she says, I will tell her about everything I feel for her".
He took out a lovely box from his jacket's pocket and opened it. There it was; a lovely necklace of white gold for his beloved. Keith took it out and held it in his hands, closing his eyes and thinking about the princess's excitement and that look of surprise that would be in her big blue innocent eyes which he treasured the most.
Back in the lounge Lance was thanking Hunk and Pidge who made his plan to work out so well and unnoticed.
"Eeeep, ieeepi, eppi," suddenly the mice squeaked in their own language getting the attention of everybody.
"Hey, Lance, you have all but forgotten to thank Cheezy and his family, the real heroes of the day," said Pidge eagerly. "If they hadn't brought the paper from Allura's royal letter pad, Keith might have been suspicious. You know we cannot trick Keith. He is so clever."
"Yeah, thanks my little royal friends. I owe you guys a big cheese," said Lance smiling.
Hunk asked while in the middle of eating his chocolate ice-cream "Hey Lancy, what if they find out about the letters by recognizing the writing??? And what if her highness finds about that Valentine's dress and...? I'm a bit scared about all this. What if she gets mad with us, you know hurting her feelings by telling a lie?"
"No, my dear Hunk. First thing, they will not find out about the writing because I typed the letters, and secondly about the dress. . . I have seen them always lost in another world when they are alone . . .oooops!!!" Lance quickly put his hands on his mouth as the words slipped away.
"What!!! You have been spying on them, Lance," said Hunk surprised.
"Yeah, Lance that's very bad," said Pidge.
"No, guys I didn't mean to be spying on them. It's just happened." Lance stopped for a moment and then said, "Besides, they will come personally to thank us after they have a real romantic moment with each other, I guarantee that," said Lance while imagining them finally kissing each other.
"Yeah, yeah, let's hope so," said Hunk while yawning. "Let's get some sleep, because tomorrow's gonna be a big day."
"Yeah, good night everyone and lets hope Lotor won't show up tomorrow to ruin my perfect plan," said Lance earnestly.
