Also, Keith finds out from Jeff the reason the Vehicle Voltron force hadn't answered Coran's hails from Castle Control when Arus waas being attacked a by a robeast while Lion Voltron was far away on its travel to defend Earth. Because the Galaxy Alliance admiral had contacted Jeff once, ordering Vehicle Voltron to return to the Explorer, Jeff figured the admiral would be watching their position by monitoring their communications. Merla finds out by reading Witch Hagar's mind that the witch plans to turn Lotor into a robeast to fight Voltron. Merla tries to talk Lotor out of it, but he won't change his mind because he won't let himself be over Allura. In a final last ditch effort, Merla uses black magic to make herself look and be just like Allura. Lotor wanted to believe she was Allura. However, the exception to her being like Allura was that while kissing Lotor, her lips turned cold. Lotor then couldn't go on with the charade, and left her there after dropping her on the floor. Merla transforms into herself again, and the price for the magic she used is permanent black webbing lines on her left hand. After Lotor has left, Merla cries bitterly as she realizes after Lotor dies she'll likely never allow herself to love again.

Love has been transforming who Darah is as a person, yet she is not at peace with herself. She seeks redemption of a sort by stealing a space craft from Arus. Karla, Keith's sister, catches her in the process. In fear Karla calls for Lance as Darah bolts down the hallway. Karla's calls wake up Lance and Keith. Karla believes Darah means them all harm, but Lance doesn't believe it, and neither does Hunk who woke up at the mere mention of Darah's name. Hunk takes off ahead of the rest of the Voltron force in yellow lion in pursuit of Darah, but Darah had a headstart and manages to stay ahead. Darah goes to Planet Doom, happens to find Lotor outside, and attacks him, just as she planned. Lotor is ready to impale Darah with a fatal blow except that he's suddenly knocked over by Hunk who had finally arrived. Hunk and Lotor fight until Lotor is in position to take Hunk's life except that suddenly Lotor is kicked in the chops tremendously hard by Darah and he is knocked out. Then the rest of the Voltron force arrives. After Lotor is conscious, he draws a laser gun. But after Darah threatens to kick him again, Lotor drops the gun and runs away. He hadn't been thinking straight and then was angry at himself when he realized his folly. He tries to save some honor by threatening them all before he walks away. Keith pulls Hunk aside and questions him as to whether Darah can be trusted. Hunk is angry he'd even ask, and Keith realizes with certainty that Darah can be trusted. Then everyone heads back for Arus, with Darah riding with Hunk.

Lotor demands that Hagar turns him into a robeast. He has it in his mind that if he can't have Allura, then no one will. Hagar makes Lotor into the most powerful robeast ever and follows him to Arus with three other robeasts. Lotor threatens to level the castle and destroy the people using the three robeasts if Voltron attacks him. Lotor demands to have Allura, Voltron, and all of Arus. Allura and Keith both try to reason with Lotor not to attack Arus, but Lotor will not change his mind. Allura remembers a riddle her father had told her that would uncover a secret defense of Voltron's that is simply "What is the white lion?" with three answers to the question. The Voltron force manages to solve the riddle together in less than twenty minutes. Then Voltron transforms into a giant white lion. The lion destroys all three robeasts by simply biting down on each of them before any of them had hardly begun their attack on the castle or the people of Arus. Still Lotor won't leave and white lion is forced to fight him. Lotor almost destroys the use of white lion for good, but is not fast enough. White lion repairs itself and destroys Lotor. Allura feels the loss is tragic because Lotor may have been the only hope for peace between Arus and Doom.
