Surprise Confession

Story by Sheila Bliss

The following is a story of Voltron I made up based on the T.V. cartoon Voltron by World Events Productions. I did not have World Events Productions' permission to do the story and therefore it does not have World Events Productions' endorsement.

While Keith was having a discussion with Sven, Lance had returned to Castle Control to find Karla. Also there were Coran, Pidge, Tammy, Allura, and Romelle.

"Did you see Sven at all on your way back?" Coran asked Lance.

"Yeah, I think he was going to see Keith."

"Where's Keith?"

"I don't know where he'd be now."

Then everyone heard Hunk and Darah strolling right by the Castle Control doorway and down the hall.

"I wonder where they're going?" asked Pidge.

"Knowing Hunk, they're going to lunch early," said Lance.

"So what all did you and my brother talk about?" asked Karla.

That question brought up a tinge of guilt in Lance as he was immediately remembering the things Keith and he had talked about regarding Karla. Lance was silent for a moment as those thoughts streamed through his head. And then, in a strange attempt to appease his feelings, Lance grandly said, "Karla, in front of all my friends present, right now I'll tell you, you're not the only woman I've ever thought about or been attracted to. But since you, you're the only woman I've ever loved."

Karla gave Lance a skeptical look since she strongly suspected otherwise. She gestured toward Allura and asked incredulously, "And her?"

Lance suddenly turned bright red and the queen did too. They both felt very uncomfortable under Karla's implication.

"OK, I loved Allura!" Lance blurted out. Then Allura was feeling ever more embarrassed, and everyone's mouths in the room dropped open except for the queen's, Lance's, and Karla's.

Lance went on, "But not even Highness could take your place. Even with feelings for her, I still had thoughts of you. I just couldn't escape it. I've never been closer with a woman than what I had been with you. . ." Lance paused and then inserted his foot in his mouth again by adding, "Well OK, Allura kissed me. . ."

"She what?" said Karla angrily and she shot a glaring look at the queen and then back at Lance.

Allura suddenly felt very guilty, though she knew she shouldn't. Any kisses she had ever given Lance were at most innocent play.

"She's kissed me on the cheek! OK? I've never been kissed on the lips! I've never even kissed anyone on the lips!"

Pidge thought, 'Not even your own mother?' but thought better to himself not to say it since Lance had lost his family to Zarkon.

After Lance's last sentence, Karla promptly went up to him and kissed him for the first time right on the lips. Lance was briefly shocked at first, but was soon over it in almost an instant as he then enveloped her in his arms and pulling her tightly to him, kissed her passionately right back. And they were that way for quite a while before they broke their embrace.

Then Karla stated, "Now you have."

"Have what?" asked Lance dreamily.

"Have been kissed on the lips, silly," answered Karla.

"I sure have. Let's do it again."

Then they started kissing some more -- little short kisses. Little did they know how abruptly that was about to end!

Commentary: Yes, this was a very short little story. I felt the urge to write a situation showing more the explanation of Allura's and Lance's feelings for each other. It was even more fun yet to have Lance's love of his life, Karla, witness it all! I read many Voltron fictions where the writer portrays Lance as being a guy who's quite experienced with the ladies. But, I enjoy better portraying him as someone who seems experienced yet surprisingly is hardly experienced at all. That's how I've naturally thought of him all along anyway. In the animated series, Lance often seemed keenly perceptive of people, yet at other times he was a true champion at putting his foot in his mouth. I'd say his best rival competition of this was Hunk who's also quite adept of the stunt. In fact, I'm not sure who's really better at it. But in this story, I think Lance pretty well scores a perfect 10 in the category of 'foot in mouth' tricks. I have Karla forgive Lance's blunders when she hears he's never really been kissed before. I did that mostly because I figured that given the whole context of the situation she'd believe him and would find the knowledge all too irresistable not to take advantage of. To read about what it was that was siad between Lance and Keith that brought oup the guilt feelings in Lance at the beginning of this story, read the story Confessions between Keith and Lance.
