Tammy was just a little girl in the Voltron animated episode where red rain fell on Arus. Tammy ending up flying with Pidge on green lion because she had been separated from her mother. Later, in green lion, Pidge promised he'd find her mother. At one point the Voltron force is asked to surrender themselves and they get out of their lions to do that. What the forces of Doom didn’t know was that Tammy was with Pidge in green lion and she put on Pidge’s uniform and stood with the rest of the team so it looked like Pidge had surrendered. Then Pidge began a surprise attack using green lion, which allowed the rest of the Voltron force to relinquish their intent to surrender and join the battle.
Another interesting thing about Tammy is that as she said her goodbyes to the Voltron force, she told them to remember their promise to her. I don’t know what they promised her, but it’s interesting that they promised her something. She had voiced to her mom that she wanted to be a space explorer when she grew up.
During the episode, Pidge once said that Tammy reminded him of his kid sister with the space explorers on Planet Terra, which is another name for Planet Earth. Anyway, this episode must logically happen after the episode where Pidge’s home planet Balto is destroyed. His family was scattered during the escape from the planet, but it is said they survived. Based on the scant information it sounds like the family he had on the planet were his mom, dad, and sister. His twin brother, Chip, was of course with Vehicle Voltron and not on the planet. Somehow his sister must have ended up being taken care of by some space explorers on planet Terra, and it’s not said where his parents escaped to. In fact, in the episode where Pidge’s home planet it is destroyed, he didn’t even know where his sister had escaped to, but based on the what he said during the episode with Tammy, he must have found out later where his sister escaped to. What’s strange is that his sister hasn’t been reunited with their parents even though it’s known that their parents survived so someone must know where they are at to know that they survived. Another point of interest about Pidge’s family is that I think it was the episode about the Medusan that said that Pidge was adopted which would also make Chip adopted but not necessarily his sister.
If the episode about Tammy is supposed to be before the episode where Pidge's home planet is destroyed, then I imagine that the space explorers that his sister was with on Planet Terra were just some good friends of the family that Pidge's sister had been invited to stay with for a while.
